MISSION STATEMENT |
The New Testament Psychology Institute (NTPI) is an educational agency that fosters research and development in the field of New Testament psychology. NTPI is the only educational agency, established specifically to research and document the psychological concepts of the New Testament. |
The New Testament psychological model entitled The Natures of Mankind Psychology (NMP) explains the psychological concepts of the New Testament and is the foundational psychological model that is used as the basis for further research and development. |
NTPI seeks to provide educational materials and processes that facilitate the commitment of all Christians to living in accordance with the principles of the New Testament. This facilitation is successful when Christians apply the concepts of NMP that result in a personal transformation that enhances a Christian's relationship with God and others. |
NTPI publishes the writings of authors such as Jerold and Linda Reed. It encourages writers to submit books and articles that apply the concepts in NMP for publication. |

MYTHS ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY |
Myth #1: Secular psychological theories and models can teach Christians how to function successfully.
Secular psychological theories do not address the spiritual aspect of human existence nor do they incorporate God's super-natural intervention in a Christian's life. Secular psychologies are for non-Christians. |
Secular psychology is the science of the mind or of mental states and processes; the science of human nature; the science of human behavior as explained by the Western worldview, by the scientific method, by the wisdom of the world, and by non-Christians. |
Myth #2: Secular psychology and/or Biblical (Old and New Testaments) psychology can co-mingle and be successful in resolving Christian problems.
By definition, only the New Testament can clearly define a Christian and identify the causes for and solutions to a Christian's problems. When secular psychology is mixed with Biblical psychology and/or when Judaism and Christianity are mixed they all fail to address the Christian's unique nature, unique problems, and the unique solutions to those problems. |
Myth #3: Secular psychology can effect real change in the Christian's life.
Some secular psychologies teach that people, by gaining insight and/or by their own effort, can change their own behaviors, emotions, and thoughts. However, for the Christian, change is a spiritual process and a super-natural process that can only occur when God changes the very nature of the person: it is a person's nature that determines behaviors, emotions, and thoughts. |
